If there’s one thing I’m keen to develop, it’s resilience in the face of uncomfortable feelings. My knee-jerk response to emotional disturbance is to placate it with comforting things: a square of chocolate every 60 seconds, trash TV, an aborted go at that meditation app thrown in for #balance. However, it’s only through learning to wait rather than react that the stamina builds. Then, healthier and cheaper self-soothing alternatives such as breathing and body scans come into play and, with consistency, actually make a real difference.
