I’m an EE customer, so I’ve received many genuine text messages from the company over the years. But I got one text in August that was clearly a scam. It said EE had “failed to take payment for your latest direct debit”. If I didn’t tap the link to sort this out, my services would be “put on hold”. Rather than tap that link I signed into my bank account, which confirmed payment had been made just three days earlier. It was a wholly unoriginal scam.
