In the late twenty-first century, mankind has become totally dependent upon the T-Mat system for the almost instantaneous transportation of individuals, raw materials and vital food supplies to all parts of the world. T-Mat is so effortless and efficient that it has superseded all conventional forms of travel. The Ice Warriors exploit this reliance by infiltrating T-Mat’s primary control centre on the Moon, where they murder most of the technicians and end T-Mat transmissions.
