This stunning abstract depiction of planes in flight was painted by the Futurist artist Tullio Crali, currently on show in the first-ever exhibition of his work in the UK at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art in London
Not a name that is perhaps as familiar as the Grand Masters of the Renaissance, Futurist Tullio Crali (1910- 2000) was as much a ground-breaker in his time. Futurism originated in Italy in the early 20th century and celebrated modernity and the burgeoning automotive and aeronautical advances that were evident in the inter-war years.
