A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a blue van at the Railway Pier in Oban. CCTV cameras show the incident happened at about 7.19am yesterday (Wednesday). Police Inspector Gillian Gardner has put out an appeal for witnesses. Anyone with information should contact Oban police on 101. The condition of the woman is not known. She was taken by ambulance to Lorn and Islands Hospital, but transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, by coastguard helicopter. The van was surrounded by police. The driver, who was unhurt, is being questioned by police. The woman was believed to have been heading towards the ferry when it happened.
