Glendale and Waternish on Skye are to get superfast broadband. The news follows the announcement by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon of increased provision of superfast broadband across Scotland.
Ian Blackford MP welcomed the decision. He said: ‘I am delighted Glendale and Waternish will benefit from the fibre network.
‘I have long campaigned for high speed connectivity in remote areas. The Scottish Government has committed to 100 per cent high speed connectivity across Scotland by 2021 and I am delighted this programme is more than exceeding expectations. High speed connectivity is vital for business, especially in remote communities where people can work from home. ‘Visitors, too, expect to be able to connect their phones and tablets everywhere they go.’
