■ THE first train to run on the Southwold Railway trackbed at Blythburgh since 1929 operated on June 21 during a Suffolk Open Day event. Halesworth to Southwold Narrow Gauge Railway’s ex-Irthlingborough mines, Northamptonshire, Greenwood and Batley 4WBE hauled replicated Southwold wagon No. 18 back and forth along the short length of 3ft gauge track which has been laid in association with the restored goods shed at the site of the old station.
