Thinking back over my running history, it doesn’t really start to blossom until the last year or so. I had run in the past, but never liked it and then I’d tried bootcamps to get fit. You know, the things like the BMF (British Military Fitness) session where people shout at you and you do what they say! I liked the squats and weights but hated the running.
By the time I’d had both of my little boys, I felt very unfit and knew I had to do something about it. Another driver for doing some exercise was anxiety and depression. I’ve suffered since I was 14 and the pressures of being a mum of young children – the thanklessness, the loneliness – exacerbated the emotions sometimes.
