‘POLAR EXPRESS’ STEAM AND DIESEL. The Wensleydale Railway’s ever-popular Christmas trains started on November 12, with all tickets soon sold. Motive power for these and other trains over the Christmas– New Year were main-line registered ‘Black Five’ No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier top-and-tailing resident Class 33 diesel No. 33035. No. 33035 having just passed Mudfields, top-and-tailing the 4-6-0. They are working the 12.35 ‘Polar Express’ from Leeming Bar to the ‘North Pole’ (Constable Burton Loop).

PORTERBROOK has donated HST power car No. 43056 to the Welsh Railways Trust, thus becoming the first Class 43 to be preserved in Wales. It will be moved to Bronwydd Arms on the Gwili Railway, near Carmarthen, as part of the trust’s ambitions to tell the story of Welsh Railways.
