100 YEARS AGO AUGUST 1925
Euston is milk hub
RATHER more than 100,000,000 gallons of milk were carried from stations on the London Midland & Scottish Railway during the year ended March 31, 1925. In addition, great quantities were conveyed that originated on other lines. The LMS, which it is claimed carries nearly half of the country’s milk, has distribution depots all over London, and about 25,000,000 are brought to the metropolis in the year. The busiest milk hours at Euston are between midnight and 2.30am. During this time there is a constant service of milk specials into the milk dock. Traffic is worked on ordinary or special trains classed as passenger.
