NER ‘H’class 0-4-0T No. 1310 operated its last trains for the foreseeable future on July 23, on the Middleton Railway, Leeds. Poignantly, “Farewell 1310” was chalked on the smokebox, while the ‘Middleton Pioneer’ headboard was adapted with the addition of the loco’s number and the years it has most recently been active, namely 2011-2023. The loco is being thoroughly cleaned and polished before going on display in the Engine House, as there are no plans to overhaul it in the short term.
