Incredibly, more than four decades separate the ‘then’ and ‘now’ shots in these two pairs of photographs reflecting British Rail’s blue era.
‘Deltic’ No. 55013 The Black Watch pauses at York on July 26, 1980, with the 1E10/09.10 Dundee-King’s Cross, which it worked throughout. The loco survived in traffic almost to the end of the class, being withdrawn on December 20, 1981.
