Psycho Pinball
» PLATFORM: MEGA DRIVE » RELEASED: 1994 » DEVELOPER: CODEMASTERS
You’d played a lot of pinball games in the arcades and even enjoyed some on your trusty Sega Mega Drive. You loved the mini tables of Devil Crash and even relished the boss battles found in Dino Land, that import Mega Drive game you picked up. Hell, you even managed to have some fun with Crüe Ball, and even gleaned enjoyment from Sonic Spinball, but something was missing and you couldn’t quite tell what it was. It turns out Psycho Pinball was absent from your life, and while it wasn’t quite a match for Devil Crash, its endless charm and sheer inventiveness easily won you over. Aside from multiple tables and cool LED-like displays, the big draw of Psycho Pinball was its entertaining arcade‐style minigames that tasked Psycho, a cute armadillo, with a variety of fun objectives, from navigating a walkway in space to protecting the inside of a huge whale. The best one, however, was ‘Runaway Train’, which saw Psycho frantically dash across the top of a speeding train, which only got trickier the more times you completed it.
