It’s easy to forget now, but Donkey Kong Country felt like the future when it debuted on Nintendo’s SNES in 1994. Rare had been tasked with updating the Donkey Kong series for a new audience and in my mind it succeeded admirably, and it remains in my SNES collection to this very day.
What a delight then to speak to developers involved with not only the SNES original and its sequels, but also the Donkey Kong Land spin-offs, the successful reboots by Retro Studios, as well as the elusive David Wise, one of the most talented videogame composers around. News about any new games in the series may be hard to come by, but our huge ten-page feature should certainly keep you entertained in the meantime.
