STAR LETTER
TOTAL! RECALL
Hi Retro Gamer,
I was really sorry to hear of the recent passing of the videogame journalist, Andy Dyer. My brother and I received our NES as a Christmas present, around the same time that Total! magazine was first published. I loved Total!, not just for its detailed reviews and features but also for its humour and the funny cartoon pictures of Andy, Steve Jarrett and the other writers, dressed up as characters like Mario and the Ninja Turtles in their reviews.
A few years ago, I was lucky to find some old issues of Total! in a local Oxfam bookshop. The first issue brought back memories of the Greek myth-themed The Battle of Olympus, which had received a 92% rating from Andy in his review. This persuaded my dad to purchase the game, and I have fond memories of us playing through it together (with some help from a complete guide in a later Total! issue). Thanks Andy.
