Stranded on holiday in Greece, one couple fell in love with a dilapidated 17th-century house – so they bought it, and created the perfect sunny hideaway on a little-known island

Rarely can a delayed flight have resulted in such a fairytale ending. Stranded in Mykonos on holiday, Peter and Susan Marston killed some time by visiting the sleepy nearby island of Tinos. There, they fell in love with a ramshackle, near-derelict 17thcentury bishop’s house clinging to the rocky mountainside – and ended up buying it.
