Tried & tasted
A new survey revealed that this is now the nation’s favourite soup. But which can is worth opening?
Tesco Cream of Chicken
400g, 63p
This lacked both creaminess and chicken. It was thin and watery in consistency with little evidence of chicken pieces, leaving the soup lacking in both texture and substance. The flavour was rather flat, with minimal seasoning and very little depth. Somewhat disappointing. Rating: 5/10
Heinz Cream of Chicken
400g, £1.70 Smooth and creamy coloured, slightly gloopy in consistency, but lacking in distinct chicken flavour. There were a few small chunks of meat present, which added some texture, though not enough to enhance the depth of the soup. You would expect more for the price. Rating: 6/10
