Q Our retirement in 2020 was heavily derailed by the pandemic. Five years on and I’m raring to travel long haul (which I’ve never done) and generally shake up life a bit. The trouble is my husband is perfectly content as he is. He travelled a lot for his job and although he isn’t against going on holiday, I know he’d want to come home after a week, while I want something a little more ambitious. It’s almost like the past few years have given him permission to settle into a life in slippers. But we’re not even 70 and I’m not ready for that!
In my experience, the world is roughly divided between those who adore travelling to faraway lands and sightseeing in the blazing heat until their backs and their necks go on strike and those who like the shortest possible trip to somewhere hot to do nothing for a few days.
