Web sight Victor Hugo’s ‘The Town of Vianden Seen Through a Spider’s Web’, 1871 (below)
Last November, Saga went on a flying visit to Paris to get a sneak preview of the Victor Hugo sketches set to be shown in a new exhibition at the Royal Academy. Astonishing Things: The Drawings of Victor Hugo gives an insight into the mind of a creative genius, better known for his novels Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It was a privilege to see his ink and wash drawings of monsters, castles and mountains up close and from this month, they’ll be on display in The Jillian and Arthur M Sackler Wing of Galleries at the Royal Academy’s Burlington House.
