US NAVY
The US Navy has been called out for its lack of maintenance and repair capacity by the Government Accountability Office. In 2022 the GAO reported that the USN lost 10,363 operational days from 2008 through 2018, the equivalent of more than 28 years, to delays in getting ships in and out of shipyards. A more recent assessment found that USN submarines had spent 9,563 more days in maintenance than scheduled.
