It’s been another month of vegan wins – Aldi sold nutritional yeast (those cheesy flakes of goodness are great for making carbonara), dairyfree chocolate spread and Hellmannʼs Vegan Mayonnaise, M&S treated us to a new vegan footwear collection (see p6) and Greggs’ sausage rolls caused a Twitter meltdown. With veganism going mainstream, it’s easier than ever to be plant-based so if you tried Veganuary, keep going! We are here to support you on every step of your journey…

It’s common to encounter obstacles when you give up meat and it can be hard to explain your choices when you don’t have all the facts. My advice would be — read, read, read! The more you know, the better equipped you are to answer people’s questions and cement things in your own mind. Turn to p17 to find out how to get others on board, or if you’re ever asked about the sustainability of your food choices, turn to p32 to find out how you can eat more ethically (and don’t worry, avocados are still on the menu).
