WTF IS ANDROID XR?
Is it Google Glass 2.0?
Shhh, you’ll jinx it! Google’s first foray into wearables might have ended up as one of tech’s biggest punchlines, but Wear OS has done pretty well – and Android XR is its face-based equivalent. This is an operating system for ‘extended reality’ devices (basically anything you put on your head that adds an extra dimension to the world), and Google is taking the same approach as it did initially with Android for your phone: creating the OS but leaving the hardware up to others. Samsung is already on board, with a headset codenamed Project Moohan (pictured) due to arrive later this year.
