TIPS + TRICKS SELLING ONLINE
If your home is bursting at the seams, Craig Grannell says grab your phone, install some apps and make some quick cash (then avoid replacing all your old tat with new tat)
Disc go inferno
CDs and DVDs are worth a pittance individually, but services like Decluttr (US) and MusicMagpie (UK) let you send a box of the things at once.
THE BASICS
■ Don’t waste time Unless you’ve plenty of time or no other option, avoid selling items that will collectively make you mere pennies. Charities or ‘freebay’ groups are better options. And don’t waste other people’s time either: start by making listings succinct. No one wants to read the life story of your Atari 2600.
■ Be honest Carefully check items and highlight even small flaws, so they don’t come back to bite you. Explore how each site determines item condition, and label accordingly. Don’t list an item as new if it isn’t, and don’t spam keywords in listing titles –people will hate you.
