BETA YOURSELF DE-STRESSING
A smartphone can feel like a trap, leaving you with no escape from the world’s tensions… but Craig Grannell shows how your mobile can be a force for good and help you relax
THE BASICS
■ Hone your homes
Got apps and games that help you relax? Place their icons more prominently on your home screens – and add friction to things that stress you out by removing them from home screens, placing them in a folder or deleting them entirely. Use widgets to draw you towards content that helps you unwind.
■ Weed your feeds
If news being piped into your brain is a source of anxiety, cut it back. Rather than constantly dipping into news sites, sign up to one or two daily email bulletins and use an RSS reader to subscribe to feeds you care about. If social networks are a problem, delete the apps and use the less sticky web versions.
