What are you looking forward to? All the hustle and bustle of the festive season is over, normal working routines resume and here we are at the start of a new year. In the northern hemisphere it is pretty cold in most places and it’s good to hunker down indoors with a warm drink, maybe a craft project and of course your favorite magazine. I’m certainly looking forward to some down time outside of working on the next magazine. There is a lovely Scottish word to describe this: ‘coorie’ is described in some dictionaries as ‘a calm, comfortable time with people you love’ and is often used to describe getting cozy in a happy place. Some people are now aligning it with the perhaps more well know Scandinavian ‘hygge’ which evokes a similar kind of lifestyle, though to coorie is perhaps a more temporary situation, and can be for an evening, a few days or just an hour or two.
Meanwhile, the southern hemisphere embraces high summer, beach parties and long, warm days. No matter where you live, there are things to look forward to and we hope TBT & Friends is one of them. In this issue we bring you lots of gorgeous bears, an insight into artists’ inspiration, careers and workspaces. And we are delighted to offer you a very special bear pattern from Jean and Bill Ashburner of Bear Bits as they celebrate 30 years of making bears.
