LAST MAN STANDING I Nick Broomfield revisits the deaths of Biggie and Tupac…
WHAT HAPPENED? Suge Knight (centre) with the late Biggie Smalls (left) and Tupac Shakur (right).
Nineteenyears after his doc Biggie & Tupac investigated the murders of two of America’s most iconic rappers, Nick Broomfield is back on the streets of Compton. “I felt very heavily invested in the story,” admits the British filmmaker, whose new work Last Man Standing picks up the threads of its predecessor. With these crimes never fully solved, Broomfield felt justified in returning to the scene of Death Row Records, the now defunct but once influential label owned by impresario Suge Knight.
