TANGLE-FREE FOOT
This month’s quick fix comes courtesy of former FIPS-Mouche World Champion Howard Croston, who has a clever way to prevent the thin lines and mono leaders used in Euro-nymphing from tangling around the back of the reel foot. By attaching a hairband or large rubber band around the rear line guard and then looping it around the butt of the rod, Howard ensures tangle-free use. Given the low-bulk lines used, there should be ample space for the band without restricting the reel’s movement.
