MADAM – I am sure that others will have identified a mistake in your piece about William Powell Frith’s The Private View at the Royal Academy (News, ATG No 2380, shown below).
Frith included an image of Oscar Wilde in his panorama of 1881, the author having received much acclaim and infamy for his book Poems, and having made a name for himself as a leader of the Aestheticism movement. However, the trials (in fact there were three) were in 1895, not 1885 as you reported.
