THE HIGHLY respected and successful distance running coach Bud Baldaro was among those to take to the Alexander Stadium track, receiving his “unsung hero” award from British Athletics as he retires from his role at England Athletics.
Baldaro, who is a former head coach at the University of Birmingham and continues to be an active mentor, has worked with a large number of international athletes during his 40-year coaching career, including 2011 world 1500m silver medallist Hannah England and her husband, steeplechaser Luke Gunn.
Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2009, Baldaro has also spearheaded a fundraising campaign through “Bud’s Bash and Run”.
