CLOSER LOOK CLADDING PERFECTION
Most of our cladding is in simple sections on a single elevation; but at the north-west corner, we opted for a wraparound effect, so we could showcase the difference between standard and hidden fix (Russwood recommended the Fassendenclip system, which was a bit more effort to install but has performed impeccably). At this corner, we were faced with the issue of how to fix the cladding into polystyrene ICF blocks, as there’s no fixing strip embedded in the ICF here. Instead, we double-battened near the corner and opted for a mitred finish with a 10mm gap.It was labour-intensive (and the carpenters weren’t convinced it would be stable enough over time) but produced an impressive effect. Happily, it looks as good today as when we installed it – the mitres still all match up perfectly! To do this reliably in a faster-grown larch (such as UK or European), you’d need a thicker profile for stability.
