The rise of timber frame construction
The popularity of timber frame construction is booming in the UK as more individuals opt to prioritise sustainable, energy-efficient homes. It’s now the fastest-growing building method in the country. Estimates suggest that a total of around 13,000 homes were built in 2023 in the self and custom build sector. The percentage of those in the UK built using timber frame systems, is in the region of over 50%. As always, while the mainstream housebuilders strive to achieve zero carbon, it will be the self builders driving the increase in sustainable construction and really showing them how it’s done.
