Happy New Year everyone! Okay, January is never going to podium in a concensus of favourite months of the year, and nor is it ever likely to spark great glee when compared to the fairer seasons, but it does have its merits. Spring may have the bringing in of a more convivial climate, summer has, well, the sun, while autumn delivers the promise of Christmas and snuggling up on the shorter nights. But January, the much maligned 31 days to open the year, offers so much more than first impressions may hint to. New Year’s resolutions, for a start, are a great way to bring positive change to your life, whether that be through diet, exercise or the discarding of a pre-held vice, and that can lead to increased focus, an upbeat outlook and certainly a sense of achievement. January also opens up the opportunity to shake off the shackles of Christmas and, let’s face it, those shackles were heavy!
