In HEAVY DUTY this issue we are privileged to feature a 1930 Harley-Davidson DAR racer built from parts painstakingly gathered from around the world. The DAR is a purpose engineered road racer built by the H-D race department. There were none left in the world but David Reidie set about building a genuine DAR utilising H-D archives and photos. The result is a genuinely beautiful motorcycle we feature on the cover.
Now, everyone has seen a customised V-Rod on the road. People love them for their power, durability and customising potential, but in this issue of HEAVY DUTY is a V-Rod from Smith Concepts in Sydney that is honestly the best we’ve ever seen. Also in issue 158 is a superb chopper built by Swede Martin Carlgren. He was invited to exhibit last year at the famous Born Free custom motorcycle show in LA and did not have a bike ready. So he built one from scratch – including a one-off V-twin motor. It won ‘Best International’ award.
Plus, there is a 10-page Tech Torq where Doc Robinson answers our readers technical queries, news from Mike Hess and great photography from the best in the business.
