The right side of the Mac’s menu bar is for system icons like Wi-Fi, battery, date and clock. However, apps can also use this area to provide icons for quick access to tools.

The Shortcuts app enables you to create your own mini programs and you can make them accessible from the menu bar. Create a tool to save the contents of the clipboard as a note in the Notes app by following the stepby-step guide, then have a go at creating the Capitalise Text tool in the annotated screenshot. It capitalises text on the clipboard and there are several options. Use these two examples to create your own simple menu bar tools.
The Shortcuts tool to save the clipboard to a Notes file works great with text, but that is not all it does. Select a PDF file in Finder, press cmd+C, run Save Clipboard as Note and the PDF contents are saved in the note. This is a useful way to extract the text from PDF documents. Try it out and see for yourself.
