How it works
To make text move in a specific direction, you can set key frames manually while using the Transform tool. However, this is a tedious and time-consuming task, especially if the camera and subject are moving. With the release of macOS Monterey Final Cut Pro, users can save time by using the new object tracking feature. This uses algorithms to recognise a subject (such as an object or face) and track its movement throughout a clip’s duration. You can use this cool new feature to make text automatically follow a moving subject with ease. Here’s some tips and tricks to make text auto track objects, even in wobbly handheld clips.
Object tracking uses a reference pattern to track a targeted subject’s movement. The tool uses a Point Cloud algorithm to analyze pixels around the central point of the tracking grid. It also tracks the scale and rotation of the object as well as its horizontal and vertical movements. Object tracking also uses machine Learning (ML) to help it track its target.
