MASTER YOUR NEW
iPHONE 13
A round-up of the most essential features and secret settings that every iPhone user needs to know
The iPhone is what it is, and for most that means it is a reliable companion that will help you get through your day, keep you entertained and help you capture special memories. It does so many things very well and it is easy to get into the habit of using what you need and not exploring further, but there are many hidden gems in the iPhone and iOS 15 that may make you look differently at the possibilities. Some of them are truly hidden behind layers in Settings and some will be useful for a small group ofpeople, but many of the others can be used by anyone and simply need discovering to be of benefit to you over and over again. We will highlight some of the most useful hidden features and detail how to use them, but be under no illusion that the more you look, the more benefits you will find. With third-party apps, you can potentially do almost anything you like and some simple keyword searching in the App Store will give you what you need, but the real surprise is the number of extra tasks you can undertake within the standard iOS framework.
Manage Home screen pages
Over time it is easy to build up a huge library of apps on your iPhone. With the introduction of widgets, it is likely that you will end up with more than one home page, and potentially many more. However, there is an easy way to manage these pages, which lets you hide and reactivate them as needed.
Tag contacts in group messages
Messages has become a genuine hook for Apple users because they have gotten used to the blue and green bubbles to signify if a contact is using an Apple product or not. The flexibility and stability of the service only adds to the importance of it for many users, but now you can use it in an even more social way.
1
A normal conversation
When you are in a group chat in Messages each participant is signified by an icon so that you can see who types what. This used to get confusing at times.
2
Specify a person
Use the ‘@‘ symbol and type the name of a contact already in the chat to direct your message to them. Even if they have disabled alerts they will be notified.
3
Clean and clear
Their name turns bold so that everyone in the chat, including the recipient, will be aware that your message is intended to get their attention. It is similar to WhatsApp.
