Can Apple save us all from overpriced GPUs?
APPLE? SAVING ANYONE FROM OVERPRICED ANYTHING? The simple answer is no. But the new Game Porting Toolkit, shown at the most recent installation of Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference, gives a glimpse of a future where Nvidia and AMD find it harder to hold us all to ransom.

The purpose of the Toolkit is straightforward: it allows unmodified Windows games to run on MacOS and therefore the latest Macs and MacBooks with Apple silicon. In other words, M1 and M2 chips. It’s essentially the same as Valve’s Proton technology, which lets you run Windows games on the Steam Deck’s Linux-based OS, right?
