Model Boats  |  Apr-18
Without wishing to get into all that self-praise nonsense we ought just to tell you that we’re really quite pleased with the way the April issue has turned out. Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice is James Pottinger’s FREE Master Plan for the classic ‘50s motor tug Prestwick. Beautifully drawn and presented, along with a potted history and a smattering of period photos there’s plenty to encourage tug builders, not least the fact that this one has a distinctly model-friendly hull. Elsewhere there’s all your favourite regulars and, with a nod to the upcoming Titanic anniversary, Tony Dalton converts the Minicraft 1:350 Titanic plastic kit into a pair of R/C Olympic Class sisters. Dave Wolley’s been pretty active too, with reports from the Telford Scale Model World show and the start of a new warship tour, all photographed with the modeller in mind. Chief designer of the massively popular DF racing yachts, John Tushingham joins us with a fascinating insight into the hows and whys of this blossoming class. And if that’s not enough to reel you in, the editor’s back with an update on his classic Sea Breeze motor launch build and John Parker is taking another evocative trip down memory lane with a piece on the Elmic Sprite outboard motor and the Elmic Thrust-Pak We could tell you more but we’d have to shoot you. Buy the issue and see for yourself.
