I was born and raised in Hong Kong, where growing up, veganism was unheard of. I went vegan at 19, mostly because of environmental concerns, but also because my unwell mind was telling me to restrict my diet — for the five years before I became vegan, I had been battling with anorexia. But, veganism taught me so much about food, especially the ethics, and the nutrition of a balanced plant-based diet. It eventually did something that even hospitals couldn’t do for my health — it helped me to recover from the negative mindset of the eating disorder. It’s been a long time coming, but I am very happy and proud with my recovery and my health right now.
