FESTIVE FITNESS
How I train over Christmas
Runners and event organisers tell us how they celebrate the festive season on their feet
Laura Stewart Running Coach
Training should be fun, so I like to infuse a little holiday spirit into the track sessions I coach, whether that’s Easter, Halloween, Holi or Christmas. It encourages athletes to come along knowing that they can get in their workout but not have to take it too seriously. At Christmas, I will dig out a themed playlist, turn up the music and get runners doing a 12 Day of Christmas-themed circuits session and a Christmas cracker team relay to finish. And, of course, we’ll all head to the pub afterwards to celebrate.
