Running at Christmas
RUNNING AT CHRISTMAS
You’ve decked the halls, your chestnuts are roasting on an open fire, you’ve released the turtle doves and you’ve rocked around the Christmas tree. What now? A run, of course! Just follow our festive fitness plan
Whether you celebrate it or not, the Christmas and New Year period can disrupt your training. From gym closures and cancelled club training sessions to a drop in temperatures, there’s a lot to navigate. Add to that aflurry of invitations to parties and the pressing need to head to the shops for a different type of endurance event (Christmas shopping), and it’s easy for training to get put on the back burner for a week or so.
Not only is December sometimes a difficult time to fit in training, it can also be an in-between period in your running year. Your legs may have recovered from autumn races, but you might not be fully ready to commit to pinning that spring training plan to the fridge.
