Woodturning  |  March 2019

In issue 329 of Woodturning magazine we have lots for you to enjoy. In Projects, Emiliano Achaval turns a four-sided vase; Chris West provides plans for making your own keyrings; Andrew Potocnik creates a floral-inspired box from Huon pine; and Rick Rich makes an oval-shaped, natural-edge dish.

In Techniques, Chris Grace begins a new series about box making; Mark Sanger textures a wide-rim bowl using rotary tools and a burr; Andy Coates makes a shrink pot with a hinge and fastener; Richard Findley’s Editor’s challenge is to turn a medieval-style bowl on a standard lathe; Colwin Way offers some invaluable advice for new turners; Adrian Jacob fine-tunes his homemade ornamental lathe; and Geoffrey Laycock looks at fitting and using dry bench grinder wheels.

In Features, we take a look at some of the winning entries from the Worshipful Company of Turners 2018 competitions; friends of the late Ron Kent share their thoughts on his life, work and influence; John Plater considers what makes an artistic piece of woodturning; and Pete Moncrieff-Jury suggests some ways to keep your turning costs down.

As well as all this, we also have our usual Kit & Tools pages, which this month focus on box making products; plus there’s Leader from the Editor, Community news and a sneak peek of our next issue.

All this and more in Woodturning 329!

Excellent Project Plans Reviewed 24 January 2019 SUBSCRIBER
It is always a pleasure to see the Woodturning Magazine in my inbox! I enjoy reading and studying so many new ideas and techniques with their excellent project plans and tips!

Thanks to all those who so grandly share their work and skills for us all.

Yes the large photos and detailed descriptions are best suited to a standard computer screen, yet I often review and print from the phone.

Quite interesting to read although there are a lot of adverts Reviewed 28 April 2016
The latest issue however shows some interesting bowls on the front cover that turn out to be not the project but a cursory mention at the end of the related article. Also there's a quick one liner about paint and dye types at the end of the article also.

Not what I expected.

Also it's a bit annoying even reading on a large phone screen as holding the phone sideways auto zooms the page so it fits top to bottom on the screen.
