'Pick a card. Any card.’ We’ve all heard this said by magicians just before the magic happens. Now change one word – card to event – and see if you get a magical result.
Pick an event. Any event.
Why not do, or experience, something new? See the What’s On pages in local papers. Google what’s on in your area. It could be a garden fête, car boot sale, art exhibition or a speaker at the library. Have you ever been to an evening of clairvoyance or heard a band of ukulele players? How about a course you’d never consider? Bread-making, carpentry, aromatherapy? It’s all grist to the mill. One writer I know goes to, or signs up for, lots of events – classes, talks, shows, boot-sales - and she manages to weave most of these events into her short stories.
