WRITERS’ CIRCLES
Brush strokes
Create new work on an art theme in these writing group exercises from Julie Phillips

Creating something out of nothing is magical. Artists pull inspiration out of the ether and transform it into a work of beauty and it’s the same with writing. So this month your group are going to pick up their paint brushes, plunge their hands into clay and be creative in a different way. The world is their canvas.
The artists’ eye
Ask the group to think about works of art they admire. It could be a painting, a sculpture or any other art work they find interesting. What is it about that art that moves them? When they look at that piece of art, what do they interpret from it? What do they think the artist is trying to say with that piece? What statement are they making?
