Nailing it
Lynne Hackles gets her nails done – and material for a crop of new stories
I feel sorry for male writers. Most will never go into a nail bar. They’ll never get to hear the gossip, and gossip is often where short stories come from.
This afternoon I went to get my nails done. They are now bright orange and my ring finger on each hand has a tiny black flower on it. I only had the flowers hand-painted on so that I could hear the end of a story being told by another customer. It’s going to make a good story, once I’ve written it. Naturally, I’ll change names and the location. I don’t want anyone recognising themselves or the bit of gossip they shared. It would be awful if I was banned from returning.
