Test your road safety awareness in these creative writing exercises from Jenny Alexander

Free-range writing is personal writing. The fact that no one else is going to read it means you can experiment and play, and the fact that the pieces are timed means your inner critic doesn’t have a chance to get in the way. Using personal writing to explore aspects of everyday life that you may never have given much thought to is a great way to find fresh ideas and inspiration from your own experience, and trying different genres is a real creative work-out.
This month’s theme is road safety, which has its very own national week in November. So, ponder, be playful – and stick to the timings.
