To write for passion, in pursuit of purpose, for the thrill of creating worlds and touching hearts and minds, is a great thing. But writers also need to pay their bills and stock their fridges, just like everyone else, and unless your landlord accepts rent payments in the form of rejection slips or clever limericks, it pays to leverage your writing talents to keep the money flowing in. So this month we’re going to explore some of the different ways that you can use your writing skills to generate a passive online income.

What are passive income streams?

When working in a conventional job you receive an ‘active income’ – you are paid for the work you do, at regular intervals. Generally speaking, the more work you do, the more you get paid, and if you don’t work you don’t get paid (sick pay and holidays notwithstanding).
