RESEARCH TIPS
Public libraries’ ONLINE RESOURCES
Dr Tarja Moles guides you through the local library resources you can access through your computer
Did you know that local libraries offer many more resources than what’s on their shelves? There’s an increasing trend towards providing electronic resources that you can access online – via your own computer. All you need is a valid library ticket and login details. If you don’t already have them, ask your nearest library how you can get registered.
Your local library’s website is the place where you can find out what kind of digital material the library has. So, do an online search and find this site first. Then sign in, explore it in detail and click on the resource(s) you’re interested in.
Each public library decides independently which resources they subscribe to. This means that it is not possible to give you a definitive list of what you will find. Nonetheless, there are certain types of material that tend to be available through most local libraries.
