As of the sixth of this month, I have left my position as postmaster in Portnahaven and have transferred the retail side of my business over to new proprietor, Karen Campbell.

I would like to wish her all the best for her future business and I’m fully confident that it will be a huge success for her and deliver a great local service to the village of Portnahaven, Port Wemyss and the wider Islay community. I have already shopped at my former business and would encourage others to do the same.

I had been the postmaster for Portnahaven and Port Wemyss for more than 13 years. I was 17 when I first took over the Post Office and I’m 30 now, which means almost half of my life so far has been spent working for and serving my local area as postmaster.
