Cage & Aviary Birds  |  29-Jan-25
Exactly 100 years ago, eight men held a meeting to launch a Budgerigar Club. The rest is history – the history of what became by royal request the Budgerigar Society. In this special issue, we have a special history of the BS written by the Society historian. We also look to the future, via an in-depth interview with new BS chairman Harry Hockaday. And we return to those earliest days to hear how the Club made its first steps in 1925, as reported in Cage Birds. Happy 100th, BS! On other pages we have a masterclass on breeding hawfinches from Dan Taylor, a portrait of the spectacular rosy starling, and regular roundups on finches, parrots, canaries and winter management.
